The IR-500 Black Body Calibrator serves as a reliable heat source designed for the periodic calibration checks or validation of infrared digital thermometers. Featuring a clear LED display, the unit allows control of the black body surface temperature within the range of 50 to 500 °C, reaching an upper temperature of 500 °C in approximately 40 minutes.
To perform a calibration check, set the desired verification temperature on the IR-500 Calibrator's digital display, allowing time for stabilization. Subsequently, aim your infrared thermometer at the Ø58 mm black body. Compare the temperature readings displayed on the IR-500 Calibrator with those of the infrared thermometer under test to determine any variations indicating potential errors.
The Ø58 mm, black body target, maintains an emissivity of around 0.95, making it suitable for most industrial infrared thermometers. For enhanced accuracy checks, employ a Reference thermometer by inserting the provided fixed Ø3.3 mm precision PT100 probe into the pre-drilled calibration well.
